CNN Beat Me To It

So I was sitting at the local pho shop, euphorically eating a bowl of beef pho, when I saw a news blurb on CNN about this event:

WHAT: “Horn Concerto”/ “Dark Sun”
WHEN: 7 p.m., Friday, April 7
WHERE: Fine Arts Quadrangle/Moores Opera House, University of Houston – Entrance 16

At 7 p.m. in UH’s Arts Quadrangle, the music begins with a performance of Montague’s “Horn Concerto for an Orchestra of Automobiles.” This portion of the evening is presented in collaboration with the Orange Show Center for Visionary Art and will feature a dazzling selection of Houston’s Art Cars, as well as celebrity guest soloists, The Art Guys. This piece is performed entirely on car horns, and the public is encouraged to arrive early and gather in the courtyard.

At 7:30 p.m., the music moves into the Moores Opera House for “Dark Sun,” a concert featuring selections of Montague’s repertoire performed by UH’s AURA Contemporary Ensemble, Dance Program, Percussion Ensemble and an assembly of musicians of all skill levels. This amateur orchestra will factor heavily into the concert’s title composition, which is a memoriam to those affected by the atomic blast in the city of Hiroshima.
