Technology Bytes Turns 10! Come and Party!

Houston’s favorite computer/technology call-in show is turning 10! For ten years geeks all over the Greater Houston Area have been hunched over their radios once a week (now we actually communicate with each other via IRC) for the now two-hour show. The show started out in 1995 fronted by Jay Lee and Peter Hughes. Heck, you can see all of your favorite Tech Bytes hosts at Friday’s celebration at Kaveh Kanes. Jay tells me “I can’t believe it has lasted 10 years. Who would have thought that computers would catch on the way they did. I’m as dumbfounded as anyone.”

In Jay’s words:

In related news, Technology Bytes is celebrating 10 years on the air in Houston, TX on the Mighty 90, KPFT. We will be partying down with our bad selves at Kaveh Kanes in downtown Cowtown on Friday, July 8th. Party kicks off at 8:00. Admission is FREE!

Drop Trio will be providing the music and everyone is invited so come on down and party like a dorkus-malorkus.

Kaveh Kanes is located at 912 Prairie and offers a fine selection of beer, coffee and desert.
They also have free Internet access (both wired and wireless).

Ah, ten years is a long time. 10 years ago I was installing a modem in my 286 machine and surfing the internet without a browser. All text, baby! Also, don’t forget to tune in tonight from 7 to 9 for the show and join us on IRC (Access the #techbytes channel on the Cuckoo IRC network using on port 6667 or try port 6667 if you are in Houston). I hear guests are going to be asked to call in and share their early experiences with computers. And, in line with the previous post, Tech Bytes is now podcasting.
