Houston Writers Network
I’m becoming more and more interested in developing my writing skills and have been looking for a club that would provide the guidance I need. Yahoo! Groups has answered my calling!
The Houston Writers Network has two meetings a month, on the first and third Thursday. The first meeting seems to be just an informal get together.
The second is where writers get their work critiqued. I just found this group the other day so I haven’t been to a meeting yet. If you are interested in writing or would like to sample some local writing talent, get your browser on over to http://groups.yahoo.com/houstonwritersnetwork. There next meeting is a critique meeting on the 18th.
And now for something unrelated.
I think all aliens should leave. Right now. Please proceed to a ticket agent and purchase the next available flight to Mars. Humans don’t need you here as we are quite self-destructive. We know where you aliens are and we know how you travel. LEAVE OUR CROPS ALONE! I like my corn on the cob still on the cob!! Oh, and when you leave, please take man bear pig with you…Thanks
I took a mini-writing course from Jon at The Writing Workshop — http://www.thewritingworkshop.org/ — and it was really good. For our group, he focused mainly on business-type writing so I’m not sure if that would be a huge help to you.
I’ve also had a bunch of friends take novel and screenwriting classes through community colleges and at Rice for fun — and they’ve REALLY gotten a lot out of them. You’ve got to pay for those of course, but they seemed really stellar from what I heard.
