Online Defensive Driving

I had my first experience with completing a defensive driving course online the other day. I have to say I’m very impressed with the entire process.

First of all, everyone knows that defensive driving classes can be boring. That’s why there’s so many comedy defensive driving schools out there. As appealing as these schools sound, I didn’t want to devote an entire day to sitting in class. Instead, I wanted to complete the course at my own pace. You can do this with the video course available at Blockbuster, but I thought I’d give the online defensive driving course a try instead.

After submitting a request for my driving record (you can now do this online), I looked at the list of Texas-approved online driving safety courses.I choose one that had a low price (29.95), and offered free next day delivery of my certificate.

Completing the course in sections was easy, as anytime I would log out my position in the course would be saved. Whereas the normal defensive driving course involves watching videos and listening to an instructor lecture, this course was mostly reading with a few videos. For some reason, I was not able to watch the videos on a mac (although there was a flash player option, it didn’t work), but that wasn’t too big of a problem.

With the company I chose, you can take up to 6 months to complete the course. I finished within a couple of weeks, and, as promised, the next day I received my certificate. It couldn’t have been easier.

So next time you get a ticket, consider online defensive driving as an option…it’s better than going to an 8 am class on Saturday!

I took it once ( – not bad at all.

At least better than the last profoundly humorless “comedy” DD class I took from the Laff Spot

Be careful, not all websites are stated approved.
I took and it was great and is state approved and court approved.

I just checked and it is now $40 (plus another $26.18 for driving record).

I’m looking for a better deal.
