This isn’t Houston specific, but is relevant for all you people on the road in need of a phone book.

Tired of paying for calling directory assistance (411) on your phone? Some carriers charge $1 or more just to give you a phone number. Sometimes, they don’t even find the number you need.

A new nationwide service, 1-800-Free411 tries to solve this problem. Instead of dialing 411, dial the 1-800 number. What’s the catch? You have to listen to a short advertisement while your call is being connected. If you’re not in a rush and can wait 30 seconds to get the number, then I think that this service is worth using.

A penny saved is a penny earned…

Please don’t call “1-800-411-free” as it will give you a porno site. Call “1-800-free411” and it is a very pleasant experience. I found an old friend today using it – got the telephone number. Just be careful and dial the correct number.

Call 1-800-411-METRO to get free 411 directory assistance with a live operator. It works better than 1-800-free-411.
