Autos no longer in motion, but the ad dollars are

I found it interesting that I have been hearing radio ads about the General Motors Auto Show in Motion event that was scheduled for the Reliant Center from 9-8 to 9-11. The Auto Show in Motion is one of a large number of events at Reliant Center and the George R. Brown Convention Center cancelled so that the facilities can be used for Hurricane Katrina evacuees. Is it because the ad dollars have already been spent and the spots were scheduled ahead of time? Maybe it is because someone needs to run the ads to keep the money – probably more likely.

Regardless, kudos to the city for cancelling this and other events in favor of helping our neighbors.
